How we work

Every window is different, and so is every home. I design, make and fit curtains and blinds to suit your rooms, your style and the way you live, from the first conversation through to the final pleat.

A visit to your home

Everything begins with a free, no-obligation visit. I come to you, so I can see each room as it really is: how the light falls, how the space is used, and what the windows and walls are doing.

I measure every window carefully, checking for the details that catch people out, such as uneven walls, sloping sills, radiators, window handles and awkward recesses. Accurate measuring is the foundation of a good finish, so I take my time over it. We’ll also talk about how you want each room to feel, whether that’s cosy and layered, light and airy, or something more dramatic.

Fabrics, poles and tracks

I can source fabrics from a wide range of trusted suppliers, so you aren’t limited to a single collection. I’ll bring samples to your home so you can see them against your walls, furniture and natural light, which is always more reliable than choosing from a screen.

I can also supply and source curtain poles and tracks, from classic wooden and metal poles to slim, modern tracks and bay-fitting options. We’ll choose hardware that suits both the fabric and the room, because the pole or track is part of the overall look, and needs to carry the weight of the finished curtains properly.

Linings and interlinings

The right lining makes a big difference to how curtains hang, how they perform and how long they last. I’ll talk you through the options so you can choose what suits each room:

  • Standard lining protects your fabric from sun damage, adds body and helps curtains hang neatly.

  • Blackout lining blocks out light, ideal for bedrooms.

  • Thermal lining helps to keep warmth in and draughts out, a good choice for older windows and chilly rooms.

  • Interlining, a soft, thick layer sandwiched between the fabric and the lining, gives a luxurious, full look and a beautiful drape. It also improves insulation and helps to reduce noise, which makes it perfect for statement curtains and living rooms.

If you’re not sure which is right, I’ll make a recommendation based on the room, the fabric and your budget.

Made to measure, made with care

Your curtains and blinds are made individually to your measurements, with attention paid to the details that set bespoke work apart: pattern matching, even pleats, neat hems and a precise finish. Whether you’re after curtains, roman blinds, or a mix of both throughout your home, each piece is made specifically for your windows.

Fitting, and the little things that can crop up

When your curtains and blinds are ready, I return to hang them and make sure everything looks and works as it should. Older properties and unusual windows can throw up surprises, such as walls that aren’t straight, ceilings that aren’t level, or limited space around a window. Because I’ve seen it all before, I can usually find a practical solution on the day, whether that’s adjusting bracket positions, choosing a different projection, or making small tweaks to get a perfect hang. If anything needs special attention, I’ll tell you about it at the measuring stage, so there are no surprises.
